Here at the restaurant, we like to feature Canadian artists in our space. Explore Barbara Pitcher’s impressionistic and abstract world. Her artwork comes just in time for spring with a bright and colourful selection of Pitchers’ work, hand-picked and curated by Spazio Dell’Arte.
Thank you to those who joined us for the opening exhibit. That was fantastic!
After 20 years, Barbara Pitcher’s spirit of exploration is evident in all her works. Her interplay of colour at once suggests an impressionistic style, but at the same time is contemporary in the spatial interplay of abstracted forms.
At first glance one is drawn in by Barbara’s vibrant palette and the sense of fluidity she imparts onto the surface. The gestural shapes she creates are layered and colour is employed to move the viewer deeper. This deeper engagement between the viewer and the work reveals layers of meaning that form a subtext within her abstracted forms. Barbara invites the viewer into her canvases on a journey to experience with her a very personal relationship with colour and form. Her excitement in the journey is palpable within her undulating shapes and vibrant acrylics.
A Canadian artist of Italian decent, Barbara obtained her degree at the University of Toronto and pursued studies in design, drawing and painting in New York, Munich, Italy and France. She currently enjoys worldwide success with works acquired internationally from corporate clients in Tel Aviv, Dubai, Sydney, Geneva, Toronto including the Saatchi Los Angeles corporate collection. Barbara’s work is also widely collected by private collectors in Canada, France, Italy and the United States.
Barbara currently makes her home in the south of France where she continues to explore relationships of colour and form.
